The Mangroves in Kalpitya, a crazy wedding in Kandy, the endless deserted roads to Kalbarri,… For Catherine Merlin, each piece begins with a place, a person, or an object that left a certain impression during her trip around the world. 

This search for the essential translates into a preference for simple and powerful forms, always adding a rock'n roll touch (perhaps influenced by Brussels?) 

Wonder if the name means anything? “One bright morning in Costa Rica, I saw my son Onno running along the coast with other children. He dragged a dead snake through the sand and stopped occasionally to let the other children admire his discovery. But if they wanted to grab the snake, he replied firmly, “Mi ono!” His own interpretation of Spanish for “mine.” It stuck with me. Miono. Mine, a piece of me."

Les Mangroves à Kalpitya, un mariage fou à Kandy, les routes désertes sans fin vers Kalbarri,… Pour Catherine Merlin, chaque pièce commence par un lieu, une personne ou un objet qui a laissé une certaine impression pendant son voyage autour du monde. 

Cette recherche de l’essentiel se traduit en une préférence de formes simples et puissantes en rajoutant toujours une touche rock’n roll (peut-être influencée par sa ville Bruxelles ?)

Si ce nom signifie quelque chose? « Par un matin radieux au Costa Rica, j’ai vu mon fils Onno courir le long de la côte avec d’autres enfants. Il traîna un serpent mort dans le sable et s’arrêta de temps en temps pour laisser les autres enfants admirer sa découverte. Mais s’ils voulaient s’emparer du serpent, il répondit fermement: «Mi ono!» Sa propre interprétation de l’espagnol pour dire «à moi». Cela m’est resté. Miono. À moi, un morceau de moi. »
